Ven. Bhante Buddharakkhita : Our Abbot, Founder and  Meditattion Teacher.

Venerable Bhante Buddharakkhita was born and raised in Uganda, Africa. He first encountered Buddhism in 1990 while in India, and he began practicing meditation in 1993. After living in Asia for seven years, Bhante decided to continue his Dhamma practice in the U.S.A. In June 2001, he began monastic training, and in November 2002 he received Higher Ordination by his Preceptor the late Venerable U Silananda at Tathagata Meditation Center, California. He continued his meditation practice under the guidance of Bhante Gunaratana for eight years at the Bhavana Society, West Virginia.   Author of Planting Dhamma Seeds: The Emergence of Buddhism in Africa, and founder of the Uganda Buddhist Center, Uganda, he has been teaching meditation in Africa, Brazil, Europe, Austarilia, Asia  and the United States since 2003. Besides spending time at the Buddhist Center in Uganda, Bhante is a teacher at Bhavana Society and the Spiritual Advisor of Flowering Lotus meditation center, Magnolia, Mississippi, U.S.A. He appeared on a stamp of Japan, in 2008.

Dr. Jo Nash:    She has a BA (Hons) in religious studies and Sociology (UK), MA Psychoanalysis studies ( Cantab), PhD. Pyschotherapy Studies ( Sheffield, UK). She has also a PG  Diploma in Education in E-learning ( Sheffield, UK). She is an  Assistant to  Bhante Buddharakkhita.

Dhammakami  is the first Ugandan Buddhist nun. She is our   treasurer.

Mr. Tom Muwanga Kaboggoza  :  Temple  Coordinator and Director

He has a rich  background in electrical engineering.  After living in Japan for five years , he returned to his home country.  He passion for the preservation of  environmrnt and  meditation  was sparked by the presence of Buddhist community in Uganda.  He  has attended a few International Buddhist Conferences in Thailand and India.

Eng.  Frank  Nelson Ntwasi  :

He is our  Building Consultant.
